About Me
How I Finally Filled In The Gaps Of Attraction Marketing After A Long Struggle Of Thinking I Was Doing It Right
Hi – I’m Hilary Hughes, the owner of this website – You can read my story here – I do hope you enjoy it and find it inspiring – or, at the very least, entertaining…
Three years ago I felt my life was out of my control and that someone, anyone or everyone was pulling the strings. Working all hours as a driving instructor – yet hardly having enough cash over for even the occasional weekend away, this lack of money was exacerbated by the recession that led to more and more worries.
And, I haven’t even mentioned the total lack or holidays or personal time.
Talk about being on the treadmill!
You have probably gathered by now, that it was time to do some serious thinking to find a way to get my life back. Having been down the usual trail in the past of Tupperware and ( Heaven help me ) Wicker parties – anyone remember buying a waste paper basket called Flash or something or other?
Oddly enough, the actual name escapes me right now…
Basically, I’d learned my lesson about buying, keeping and delivering stock back then; so that narrowed things down a bit. It also taught me a lesson about collecting money – actually, it’s much better not to have to collect money yourself from the public ( lovely as a lot of them really are ).
I thought I’d throw in a few photo’s to brighten this post up a bit.
This is one of the nephew ‘helping’ with the gardening.
I’d also been warned of the potential dangers of employing people within my driving school and just a quick enquiry to ACAS ( as it was called then ) with the resultant arrival of various booklets through my letter box showing the endless list of employees’ rights, for which I could be sued and, more than likely would be – put my mind to rest on that little idea.
There was also the issue that being a perfectionist in my teaching, I would never, ever have been comfortable with anyone taking on pupils in my name. Oddly enough, I think it was this strive for perfection that made me want to move on – you just can’t go on giving too much of your time and yourself for too little reward, just to get the best out of people who would rather be somewhere else. The crazy thing is, I’d always been successful as an instructor, but what with the recession and too many people taking it up a s a profession, price wars started and it became a joke.
I’d had enough!
Subsequently, the only feasible occupation ( being pretty well unemployable ) was to find something on the Internet. My first mlm company helped me drive away some of my friends for a while until I got over it and they felt safe that I wasn’t going to cajole them into something which they neither needed nor wanted ( although I genuinely couldn’t understand why they didn’t at that stage ). Having made about £10 in all, I honestly had no idea how I could possibly be so unlucky at this business having run a successful offline business for over 15 years. It just didn’t make sense. After all, I could write to the extent that I’d had paid work ( although only moderately ), had reasonable people skills and had even taught people with learning disabilities to drive.
And one of my church.
Now, you’re probably expecting this to be the moment where I say that I discovered this great business opportunity and blah, blah blah – it turned my life around etc. Well, sorry to disappoint you but it didn’t quite happen like that. Although it probably could have done. What did happen was this: I was introduced to an e book by someone I’d got to know who was dong the same hopeless round of Internet businesses and getting nowhere – just like me! Well, the funny thing was, I did make a sale in my first week after buying the book but then I was led away to another online sales company and, by this same person who had referred me to said e book. She had finally cracked it and become very, very rich with this latter company.
So what did I do?
Obvious – take up and follow her. Well, it’s fair to say that I learned a lot with the company but spent a not insignificant figure into the bargain, I may add. Problem is, I wasn’t winning - that is, I wasn’t converting leads ( although I wasn’t bad at getting those ) into sales – despite her amazing success.
It all seemed odd because I was doing just what she was ( or at least I thought I was ). What made it harder was that it was costing me a considerable amount of money as well as a lot of my time. This was almost to the point where I no longer felt I was having a life because of the time I was spending putting money out adverts, learning various methods such as Google Ads and the like but still not getting my leads to convert. I wondered if I was just with the wrong company although I’d always felt the training was very good ( if not expensive ).
In a moment of desperation I decided, once again, that things had to change somehow, although I had zilch idea about how to go about it or what on earth to try, even.
Well, don’t they say that when the pupil is ready, the teacher appears?
Round about this time, I was checking my in box when lo and behold, I got an e mail from Ann Sieg, the writer of the e book I mentioned above – I’d never unsubscribed from her list, you see. Anyway, I opened it in a kind of half hearted way and her accompanying video went on to give valuable advice – not just a list of benefits as to why I should get involved again. This resonated with me on 2 accounts. I’d always felt in the other Internet business that I didn’t quite get the message but couldn’t for the life of me understand why. All I know is there was a lot of talk about asserting your authority, being a leader and getting in to the right mindset as well as finding your why.
All well and good, you might think, but I never felt that anyone really showed me how to do these things so it seemed a bit like Double Dutch – actually, I think they did but it just didn’t sink in the way they explained it.

Does this resonate with you?
If so, you’ll love the next bit…
Once back in the system, I learned it is all too easy to start pitching people – something I hate doing – but…and this is particularly important -
It’s not what you should be doing at all!
No, what you should be doing is educating people and showing them that you are the person that help them move forward. Now, you’ve probably heard that you sell yourself and not the product, but has it ever occurred to you that you need to demonstrate to people that you are the person to pass your knowledge on, rather than just being attractive to somebody in the personality sense ( as it’s called in these days of attraction marketing)? This is actually just one part of the attraction marketing process and, although I have produced many articles on this site, this is the most fundamental aspect of marketing and must be understood. Without it, you are doomed! I know this from personal experience.
To learn this, however, was music to my ears because I actually like teaching people. This may sound a bit naff, but I’m one of those people who need to be doing something worthwhile and I believe this system will let me do that as well as to ensure a high standard of living.
Quite honestly, I feel as if I’ve come home. Now, if you would like to learn more, so enamored am I of this system that I am sending out the free book The 7 Great Likes of Network Marketing via this site so that you can see what the system has to offer yourself. To receive your copy, fill in the box below and I’ll send you your link.
And I look forward to doing business with you very soon.
Hilary
